Here are some tips for full sail. Five to twelve knots will help you in easy sailing. Below five knots, the wind power may be inadequate and your sailing will become quite difficult. At twelve knots, you are out in full sail. You will be powered by wind fully then and will be sailing at a faster pace. However, it is not advisable for the beginners. Beginners ought to learn sailing when the wind power is low.
When the speed of the wind exceeds twenty knots, you may not be allowed to set your full sail by some of the sailing charter companies. But some boats are designed to sail efficiently even in winds of above 25 knots. But the sailor has to be well experienced for this full sail. Only an experienced sailor knows to tackle the higher winds.
Excessive heeling may hamper full sail. It will make your steering difficult and will slow down your boat. When the keel is not in the vertical position, the leeway or lateral drift of the boat with the wind will be increased.
Before starting your full sail, you can look at the water to anticipate the wind. The puffs and lulls are visible in the water. A good sailor knows how to manipulate them. When you set full sail in high winds, you are likely to be caught in the storm. So avoid such situation and prefer moderate winds. This will make your full sail a happy adventure.
